Eugene Personal Injury Attorneys
Raivio, Kohlmetz & Steen, P.C. was founded in 2003. We recognized the need for people in Portland and throughout northwest Oregon to have a small firm that was tough, aggressive and experienced enough to focus on criminal defense and personal injury cases. These areas of law have become increasingly technical and complex, making it critical for lawyers to focus on them specifically, rather than simply doing them on the side.
Defined by Our Focus and Depth of Experience
Our attorneys are defined by the depth of their experience in these areas of law. Our most senior partner, H. Scott Raivio, has more than 35 years of criminal defense experience, and our other team members each has more than 15 years of practice to their credit. We have all focused our careers on either criminal defense or personal injury work. Our decades of focus pays off with results in even the most challenging cases.
Tell Us Your Goals and We Will Help You Achieve Them
We recognize that our clients are critical members of their own legal team. We do our best work when our clients contribute to their own case by clearly communicating their goals – not just in terms of financial compensation or avoiding a prison sentence – but also in terms of goals that would not be apparent to us without our clients' input such as protecting a career, providing for a family or guarding one's privacy.
Only when our clients are comfortable with us can they be truly effective members of their legal team; actively communicating their goals and trusting our assessment of their situation. Our attorneys understand this, as does our professional office staff. We keep an informal office atmosphere. Our office is in a converted 1800s home outside downtown Portland. We employ three highly trained paralegals to assist us in meeting our clients' wishes.
About Our Costs and Fees
One of the most frequent questions we hear is, how much will this cost? We are committed to providing the highest-quality legal representation at reasonable fees.
Personal injury cases are handled on a contingency fee basis. This means there are no fees until our client receives a settlement or jury award.
In criminal defense cases, we will discuss fees in depth at the initial consultation, working with our client to find a fee structure that is appropriate given the nature and complexity of the case. We can negotiate flat fees or hourly fees, depending again on the type of case.
In all cases, we make sure our clients understand exactly what fees and costs they will pay for our services. Initial consultations are free.
